No smog check this year was the best news of all.

(Yes, I renewed late for $21 penalty)

Yeah, my Merc is diesel so I never thought about that one, the Z is just way older and now the M37 is much older. It actually occured to my wife that we skipped the 60's in car ownership continuity, 52', 71',83'... So I said we better get a 60's car.... crickets.... If I ever have room and they are still cheap I’m getting a Corvair I think. As for plates, can you believe I have REAL 52' plates and they will charge me for them as if they were vanities?? BS....

Pretty crazy that parts of Arizona have stricter emissions requirements than parts of California. I once had to smog a 35 year-old motorcycle here. Motos are now exempt, but any non-moto built after 1968 has to be smogged in my county. You get a six year exemption for new cars. Just smogged my Jeep and it failed on account of the gas cap.

End of smog checking, or alternate years?

I thought CA got stuck on 1975 and smogs anything born after that if it is over some age.

At least in Colorado there are certain drive-by emissions tests on certain roads. Maybe you have the same somewhere and didn’t notice it?
